Description
Incredible Pre-Columbian Chimu / Chancay Painted Textile. Circa 900-1300 CE. From the North Coast of Peru. Large and Wonderful panel, woven in coarse cotton fibers and hand painted with a central scene of 8 staanding warrioirs holdoing staffs. Surrounded by 8 detailed howler monkeys and geometric designs. One of the finest examples of precolumbian painted textiles we have seen. The fabric Measures 27 1/2″ wide by 24″ tall.
