Description
2 3/4″ Chinese Hongshan culture jade pig-dragon, or zhūlóng, dating from the Neolithic period. These artifacts typically feature a pig-like head with a coiled, serpent-like body, often described as “suggestively fetal”. They were produced by the Hongshan culture (c. 4700 to 2900 BC) and frequently included as grave goods in burials, suggesting ritual significance.
