Pre-Columbian and Acheulean Artifact Auction
Lot 354:
Description
3 5/8″ Shiva Lingam stone. It is a sacred, egg-shaped stone in Hinduism, representing the deity Shiva and the totality of existence. Authentic Shiva Lingams are found naturally only in the Narmada River in Western India, one of India’s seven holy sites. The stone is composed of cryptocrystalline quartz, with the distinctive reddish-brown markings being iron oxide deposits. It is believed to represent both male and female energies, symbolizing harmony and balance.
