2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1" Pre-Columbian Hardstone Bark Beater-Bark beaters were used to pound the inner bark of trees (often from the fig family) to soften, widen, and thin the material.The tool is typically carved from a solid block of limestone and features grooves on the sides for a wooden handle.The grooved face was the primary pounding surface.
