Description

An extraordinary piece of archaeological history, this original artwork by Byron Knoblock was personally signed to Gene Johns in 1938. Featured in Bannerstones of the North American Indian, this illustration (PLATE 14) brings Dr. Moorehead’s theory of a Thunder-bird ceremonial to life.

Knoblock used a real winged bannerstone from Ohio, along with the head and tail feathers of a Pigeon Hawk, to create this historically significant piece. The artwork was originally housed in the Con Foster Museum, Traverse City, Michigan, and now offers collectors a rare chance to own a documented piece of early artifact study.
