The Spanish Conquest in America, and its Relation to the History of Slavery and to the Government of Colonies by Arthur Helps. Published by Harper and Brothers, New York 1856. First U.S. Edition. Publishers original embossed black cloth hardbacks with gold gilt to spines. Overall Good condition. Some shelf wear to corners. A little wear to the tops or bottoms of the spines. A little foxing or thumbing to some pages. Newspaper clippings left in the book for 150 years stained the title page of volume 2. 490, 532, and 470 pgs plus a few ads. 7 7/8" by 5 1/4"
