Description

A 12 in. x 16 in. Original Etching of Washo Widgeon was done by Richard E. Bishop and was reproduced for circulation in Talio-Crome circa 1940 (approx. 9 in. x 11 in.) showing a number of ducks flying over a swampy area. Attached to the upper left corner of the sheet is a Season’s Greeting from one Warren S. P. Combs which includes on an inside page a ‘Story of the Picture.’ ‘Washo’ refers to the Washo Reserve on the Santee River in South Carolina; ‘widgeon’ is a species of duck, better known as ‘Baldpate.’ In fine condition, no folds, no tears. The original is maintained at the Library of Congress.
