Native American Artifacts/Antiques Auction
Lot 270:
Description
Sessions 1940’s Ballarina Clock. Still Works! The round clock is marked: "SESSIONS." A decal on the back of the clock is marked: "MASTER CRAFTERS Manufacturing Company. Chicago, U.S.A." There are several patent numbers, impressed on the BACK. The largest number, (which would be the most recent) is: "2,049,261." This patent number dates to 1937 – so the clock was made sometime after that – probably in the early 1940’s. Easily the most striking feature, is the metal figure of a woman, on the front of the clock. The metal figure resembles Marilyn Monroe but was before her time. The pin-up style woman seems to be wearing ballet shoes. The clock is 11 inches tall. The base of the clock measures 9 inches wide and is just under 3 inches deep. There are a few scattered scuffs on the wood and the metal has tarnished from time. Other than that shes still in good shape.
