Jennie June’s American Cookery Book 1878 by Mrs J. C. Croly. New York: The American News Company 1878. What this book lacks in looks it more than makes up for in good and bizarre recipes. Some examples are Boiled Eel Pie, Pumpkin Soup, Uncooked mutton minced, roast prairie chick the list goes on and on with hundreds of 1800s dishes. Many of them based on wild life gathered by themselves at the time. This Book is in horrible shape but I couldn’t toss it because of how interesting its contents are. Your buying it as it is with its faults for its treasury of recipes. 399 pages (some may be missing and many are loose). 7 3/4 by 5 1/3"
