Description
Engraved and Carved Francis Marquis of Paris Percussion Dueling/Target Pistol, Francis Marquis’ shop in Paris was established in 1848. The barrel has 1853 on the bottom, a bright bead/post front sight, flutes along the midsection, "Francis Marquis a Paris" etched on upper left, "boulevard des italiens 4" etched on upper right and scroll patterns. A fine notch rear sight on the upper tang. Intricate leafy scroll engraving on lock which is marked "Marquis/a Paris" in a banner below hammer. The other furniture has coordinating engraving and the stock also has incised leafy scroll carving. "85" on bottom of the barrel, the breech plug and wedge, wedge staple has "2"
