8 of the earliest short hand books by Benn Pitman of the Phonographic Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio (circa 1850 to 1865). Benn Pitman’s version of shorthand which he learned from his brother became America’s standard version of shorthand in 1865. These are some of the books he published prior to his version becoming the American standard. One of the books is an address to Modifications from Isaac Pitman’s Phonography 1865. The other 7 are titled as follows- Gospel of St John, Proverbs of Solomon, Second Phonographic Reader, Proverbs of Solomon, Phonetic Primer, The Phonographic Reader (1st ed), and the Phonographic Primer. Condition varies from good to very good +. They are all the publishers original 1800’s printed paperbacks. Not modern renditions. 7 1/2" by 4 5/8".
